A motorist and a pedestrian collided at the intersection of 22nd Street and Blake Street in Denver’s Ballpark district early Sunday morning, leaving the pedestrian with serious injuries, according to police. Officers responded to the crash near Coors Field and are still investigating what happened.

The Denver Police Department confirmed the crash in a social media alert posted just before 9 a.m., writing that officers were looking into an incident involving a motorist and a pedestrian that resulted in serious injury, according to a post from the Denver Police Dept. The intersection sits in the heart of Denver’s Ballpark neighborhood, adjacent to Coors Field, where Gate B and designated accessible drop-off zones generate heavy pedestrian traffic during Rockies games and other stadium events, according to MLB.com. Police have not released the pedestrian’s current medical condition, age, or identity, and it remains unclear whether the crash occurred within a marked crosswalk.

A Department Alert Reserved for the Most Severe Crashes
