[11-07-26] Denver Police Seek Driver After Hit-And-Run Crash

Denver police are asking the public for help identifying a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash. Investigators are seeking information about the driver.

According to a Denver Police Dept. crime alert, the department is asking for the public’s assistance to identify the driver in what it calls an injury hit-and-run crash.

Per the same alert, police are asking anyone with details to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.

How to Submit a Tip

The organization’s tip submission page states that tips filed through its website are encrypted, entirely confidential, and completely anonymous, with Metro Denver Crime Stoppers handling the processing. After submitting a tip online, the site notes, people receive a unique ID number and are asked to log back in within 24 to 48 hours in case investigators have follow-up questions.

People can submit anonymous tips through Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.

A Separate, Fatal Crash at the Same Corner

The intersection of West 10th Avenue and North Sheridan Boulevard has seen tragedy before. As reported by Denver7, a separate hit-and-run at that same intersection left a pedestrian dead after a woman crossing Sheridan Boulevard in a crosswalk was struck by a red Audi sedan that ran a red light while heading northbound. That driver also fled, and the pedestrian, identified only as a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene, Denver7 reported. The outlet noted that the suspect vehicle in that case was located the following Tuesday morning, though the driver had not been found as of its report. Available evidence does not establish any connection between that fatal crash and Tuesday’s injury hit-and-run involving the red BMW.

For now, investigators are relying on the public to help identify the driver. Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward through Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.

DENVER PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT STATISTICS

Pedestrian crashes remain a serious safety problem across the United States. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 7,080 pedestrians were killed in traffic crashes nationwide in 2024. More than 71,000 pedestrians were also injured.

The problem is significant in Colorado as well. According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, 120 pedestrians were killed on Colorado roads in 2024. Denver recorded 18 pedestrian fatalities that year, the second-highest total among Colorado counties.

Visibility is an important factor in many pedestrian crashes. CDOT reports that 78 pedestrian fatalities in Colorado occurred when it was dark in 2024, representing 65% of all pedestrian deaths that year.

The longer-term trend also remains concerning. In 2025, the state of Colorado recorded 127 pedestrian fatalities. Between 2020 and 2025, Denver County alone recorded 140 pedestrian deaths, more than any other state county during that period.

Pedestrians have little physical protection when struck by a motor vehicle. Even a collision at a relatively low speed can cause traumatic brain injuries, fractures, spinal injuries, internal injuries, or other life-changing harm.

Common factors that can contribute to pedestrian crashes include:

  • Speeding
  • Distracted driving
  • Impaired driving
  • Failure to yield
  • Unsafe turns
  • Poor visibility
  • Failure to obey traffic signals
  • Drivers failing to watch for pedestrians at intersections and crosswalks

If you or someone you love has been injured while walking, a Denver pedestrian accident attorney can investigate what happened and help determine who may be responsible.
